Connecticut Governor Planning Woodstock Tribute Concert

The mega 50th Anniversary Woodstock concert is not happening but Connecticut is planning a scaled-down version of their own.

Governor Ned Lamont is taking the lead and personally funding a much smaller tribute in the town of, you guessed it, Woodstock, Connecticut at the Woodstock Fair.

According to the Hartford Courant, Lamont is planning a "Battle of the Bands" tribute competition at the 159th Woodstock Fair on Labor Day Weekend, Aug. 30 to Sep. 2.

On Aug. 30 from 1 to 5 p.m., five bands, exclusively from Connecticut will each play a 30-minute set which will include at least one song that was played at Woodstock in 1969. Up for grabs, $17,000 in prize money along with the title of "Connecticut Band of the Year."

If you think your band has what it takes, each band needs to submit a video entry with no more than three songs and one of those songs must be a tune that was played at the original Woodstock Festival in 1969.

Deadlines for entries is July 31 and should also include a short bio for each band member along with photos of the band. Entries should be sent to entertainment@woodstockfair.com.
