Connecticut Bertucci’s in Bankruptcy Court
The Italian restaurant chain known for its brick oven pizza and family friendly dining experience, Bertucci’s, is having financial difficulties.
A company spokesperson for Bertucci’s has stated that they have filed for chapter 11 in US Bankruptcy Court. This was yesterday April 16th. The brand now has five Connecticut locations with restaurants in Avon, Darien, Glastonbury, Newington, and Shelton after some prior closures here in Connecticut, including Danbury.
The West Hartford and Waterbury locations have already shuttered doors because their sales were low. The Orange, Southington, and Manchester restaurants are now closed as well, according to NBC Connecticut.
The chain is based out of Northborough, MA, and 59 restaurants still remain in business nationwide. Those locations will stay open as the company restructures, but it doesn’t look good for the company as a whole. The restaurant business is super competitive and price-point driven; I only know this because I have family in the biz, and I know it’s not easy. Bertucci’s says it will try to transfer the staff from the locations that are shutting down to some of the ones that are staying open. Click here for Bertucci's Connecticut locations.
