It's not often that a cat like Cherry comes along. She's a Calico who is ready for her next adventure, and looking for a new place to call home.

Cherry is 10 year's old, and a senior cat, so that means she qualifies for the senior to senior discount. She is very friendly, and was found as a stray before she was brought to the Animal Welfare Society. She loves to play, and loves to go after her toy. She is affectionate and appreciates having her chin and neck scratched. Of course, she's totally up to date with all her vaccines, and she has been spayed. Cherry will be a wonderful companion for any family, and she can't wait to settle in to her new forever home.

Now, because of the COVID-19 restrictions, if you're interested in adopting one of the featured pets, or any dog or cat at the shelter, first fill out an application on their site at Then, once your application is approved, you can call them at 860-354-1350 and schedule your one-on-one limited contact meeting.

The shelter is always in need of items to help keep the animals safe and clean. Right now, they are looking for bleach, paper towels and dry cat food.

If you can contribute, you can drop off the items at the shelter at 8 Dodd Road in New Milford. Just let them know you're going to drop something off, then you can do it with no contact by just leaving it in front of their building. You can also check the Animal Welfare website for the Amazon wish list, and have the items delivered right to the shelter.
