Country superstar and Entertainer of the Year hopeful Carrie Underwood performed her brand-new single "Drinking Alone" at the 2019 CMA Awards. The track, co-written by Underwood, Brett James and David Garcia, is the fourth to be released to radio from her 2018 record Cry Pretty.

Underwood donned a fedora like a "Smooth Criminal" and performed on a stage setting reminiscent of speakeasies. Aesthetically, it fit a song that blends pop-friendly country with a sprinkling of jazz influence.

The year 2019 marks Underwood's 12th as host of the CMA Awards, but this year, she's joined by guest co-hosts Dolly Parton and Reba McEntire rather than longtime co-host Brad Paisley. In a recent interview with Good Morning America, the country star revealed she still gets nervous at the beginning of every CMA Awards show.

"I'm always nervous for, like, the first five minutes," Underwood explained. "And then it's like, 'Okay, this is just fine.' And the audience is great. You just get a good energy back, and it's Nashville. It's our home."

Underwood is nominated at the 2019 CMA Awards for Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year. Should she win in the Entertainer category, she will be the first woman to earn the award since Taylor Swift did so in 2011.
