Brookfield Girls Softball Team Heading to World Series
The Brookfield Burn 10U girls softball team has gone where no Brookfield softball team has ever gone before.
Having won their local district tournament, the girls then took the CT State Babe Ruth Championship and then proceeded to head to Massachusetts and swept the competition at the Babe Ruth Regional Tournament.
The Burn returned home as New England Regional Champions and will now represent the region in the 2021 Babe Ruth World Series in Florida. They will not only be representing the region, but will be representing the entire State of Connecticut and of course the town of Brookfield.
This is the first time in the history of Brookfield softball that a team has advanced this far in the competition, but it didn't come without a lot of practice, hard work and determination. You have to also remember that during all this, they were trying to get through a pandemic, so the girls worked out all winter and spring wearing masks, following social distance protocols and observing other safety protocols as well.
The goal now for the team is to bring home a World Series title. To help off-set the cost of a full team including parents heading to Florida for at least a week, the Burn has set up a GoFundMe page where you can help the girls get to the World Series to try and realize their dream.
The fund raising goal set for the trip was $25,000 and so far, they have not only reached that goal, but surpassed it.
We wish the entire team good luck on this historic journey for Brookfield girls softball and no matter what the outcome, these girls and coaches will always be winners in our book.
