When you're wearing a big black fur coat 24/7 in 85-degree weather, there is nothing like a cool refreshing dip in Candlewood Lake. I'm wondering if he had to ask permission to jump off someone's dock.
According to an article in the Danbury Daily Voice, lake resident, Tom Spitzfadden was out on Candlewood minding his own business while fishing with his buddies when he spotted a big black bear enjoying an afternoon swim.

Here are some fun facts about black bears that call Connecticut their home.
- Male bears weigh-in at between 150-450 pounds. Females weigh 150 to 250 pounds.
- Their usual diet is fruits, nuts, grass, and berries.
- They sometimes prey on small mammals, deer, and livestock.
- Black bears have a keen sense of smell and hearing.
- They are generally shy and secretive and are usually afraid of humans.
- During the winter months between late November and mid-March, bears will den under fallen trees or brush piles.
- During those months they don't eat, drink, pee, or poop but will wake up if disturbed.
