Bethel Target Store To Expand and Include a Starbucks Bar
Target stores all over the country are getting a little face lift, and that includes the Target store in Bethel.
The retail giant promised back in March that it was investing some $4 billion to remodel many of its existing stores, add some new stores and improve its online sites. One of the Target stores that has been tapped for a major overhaul is the store on Stony Hill Road in Bethel.
According to retaildive.com, a 13,000-square-foot expansion is being planned at the store, which has been at that Bethel location since 2004. Part of the renovation will be used to improve the stores operational and fulfillment capabilities as well as an upgrade to more modern lighting fixtures, health updates such as contactless bathrooms, and adding more hand sanitizing stations. Another part of the plan is to add a Starbucks coffee bar next to the current Target Cafe, which would also receive a complete overhaul.
Since the pandemic started, Target has relied heavily on its contactless order pick-up, and drive-up services, which has grown by 235 percent in 2020. Since there is a growing demand for products, the stock room at the Bethel store can only hold about 50% of the product needed to operate successfully, so more room was needed to hold added inventory.
The Bethel location is not the only Target to have an overhaul planned this year. According to a press release from the company, they are giving 150 locations what they are calling a "major glow-up."
Along with the added storage space, the project would also include a new employee lounge, a training conference room, and the Starbucks coffee bar.
Other additions to the Bethel store will include a Disney Shop, a possible Ulta shop, and back in February, the company also announced its partnership with Apple to roll out mini Apple stores at select locations.
Target has already remodeled some 800 stores around the country.
