Hello there, Greater Danbury, have you been living under a rock and wondering whether or not there are bears in your town? Well, wonder no more.

Yesterday afternoon (August 29), a Redding, CT resident got quite a show when a bear took a stroll around his yard and helped himself to some birdseed as he took down a few birdfeeders. Take a look:

Bear sightings are not as uncommon as you might think. In fact, if you live in the area, it's actually amazing if you haven't seen one. The Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection has a list on its website of bear sightings for each town. From August 31, 2017 through August 27, 2018 there have been 7,582 sightings in the state. You would probably think that a quiet woodsy town would account for many of those sightings but Redding only saw 84 bears in that time frame while New Milford reported 267, Southbury 228, Newtown 198, Woodbury 166, Brookfield 163, Roxbury 93, Danbury 81, Bethel 24, and Ridgefield 16.
