April Showers Bring Colder Temperatures To Greater Danbury
The winds of change are blowing again, and this time, the April Showers will bring much colder temperatures to our area.
Just when you were getting used to the mild temperatures we've been experiencing over the last few weeks, bam, a cold front that's moving in will bring gusty winds, rain and thunderstorms to our area today, and behind that is much cooler air.
According to the National Weather Service, we can look for a drop of about twenty degrees between now and Friday morning, with gusty winds making it feel much colder.
Here's the official statement they have issued from their site:
A low pressure system over the northern Great Lakes will deepen as it approaches the region today, and a secondary low will then develop and rapidly deepen as it moves into Maine. Showers develop in multiple rounds, the first associated with a warm front late this morning followed by a line of showers and embedded thunderstorms with the cold front this afternoon. The gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
The high wind warning will be in effect today (Thursday) from 2 pm until 8 pm, and then the colder temperatures move in tonight with lows around 34 degrees.
Daytime highs for the next few days will struggle to get above 50 degrees, with the wind chill factor making it feel much colder. It will take until late Sunday night into Monday when those temps start to get back to what we've been used to, the low to mid 60's.
