In April of 1976, Keith Bush was convicted of second-degree murder and first-degree attempted sexual abuse.

After spending 33 years at the Woodbourne Correctional Facility in Sullivan County, Bush has been exonerated of all charges due to newfound evidence. The Danbury Daily Voice tells the story of how Bush has maintained his innocence for 44 years since he was arrested in 1975.

A case review found the prosecution had not revealed that an actual second suspect was at the scene the night of the murder. A police detective also came clean saying he had used coercion at the time of Bush's confession and new forensic evidence had come into play to contradict the prosecution's case.

At the age of 17, Keith Bush had been arrested and charged with killing 14-year-old Sheresa Watson who was found strangled by an individual who had also tried to rape her. On May 22, he was found not guilty on all charges.
