This week, we have a Tabby up for adoption who was displaced recently from his original family but is now on the hunt for his new forever home.

Bruno is a 7-year-old male tabby with FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), who unfortunately had to come to the Animal Welfare Society following the passing of his owner, and there was no one to take care of him.. Bruno is a loving boy who may be a little nervous when you first meet him, he probably wants to make a good first impression, but just give a little time and he'll soon become a mushy lap cat.

Bruno would be good in a home without any cats or another cat with FIV because he could spread the FIV through a cut or open wound, but there is no cat to cat transmission through normal contact. He is good with kids and small children.

Of course all the pets up for adoption are up to date on all their vaccines, and yes Bruno has been neutered.

Because of the COVID-19 restrictions, if you're interested in adopting one of the featured pets, any dog or cat at the shelter, you must first fill out an application on their website at Once your application is approved, you can call them at 860-354-1350 and schedule your one-on-one limited contact meeting.

The shelter is always in need of items to help keep the animals safe and clean. Right now, they are looking for bleach, paper towels and dry cat food.

If you can contribute, you can drop off the items at the shelter at 8 Dodd Road in New Milford. Just let them know you're going to drop something off, and you can do it with no contact by just leaving it in front of their building. You can also check the Animal Welfare website for their Amazon wish list, and have the items delivered right to the shelter.
