A Connecticut Summertime Favorite Opens for the Season
Spring has officially sprung!
Even though the weather doesn't feel like it so much right now, it's officially spring time here in Connecticut. My favorite part about this time of year is when all of the seasonal businesses start slowly opening their doors.

Connecticut has a bunch of drive-ins, seasonal waterfront restaurants, ice cream shops, etc. and to see them slowly start opening their doors means that warm weather is on the way. I was so excited when I got official word that one of my favorite places in the local area was opening their doors for the season.
Rich Farms Ice Cream Shop in Oxford announced on their Facebook page that they are officially open for the season. Opening day was on St. Patty's Day - March 17. Since then, they've been posting about their to-die-for specials. If you've never been to Rich's, you're missing out. They were voted as one of the best ice cream shops in the country.
I know it's officially getting to my favorite time of year when they open their doors. There are not many things better than a Rich's cone on a beautiful day. If you're ready for ice cream, they're open daily. Monday - Saturday they are open from 11:30 - 9:00 PM and Sunday they are open from 11:00 - 8:00 PM.
It looks like the other local favorite, Ferris Acres Creamery in Newtown, is still closed for a little bit longer. Their website says that they will be open in early May. I'm excited for their opening as well. The more options, the better.
I will be planning on my Rich Farms ice cream cone very soon. Maybe this weekend, to be exact. Anything that brings us closer to warmer weather is good for me.
