A Colorful Fall is Expected for Connecticut

Fall is a great time of year for those of us that live in the Northeast. One of the greatest parts of fall is seeing all the beautiful foliage around the state throughout the season. This fall sounds like it will be a colorful one for our state. According to the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, this year the foliage around Connecticut is going to be at its peak come this October and November. They say that this is due to the type of summer that the state has had thus far.

NBC CT quoted Connecticut State Forester, Chris Martin, who said, “current conditions are setting the stage for an earlier start to the fall foliage season, with ‘peak color’ happening not all at once, but lasting several weeks in parts of the state.” He continued by saying, “only a few regions of the world have seasonal displays of color like New England—and Connecticut offers some of the most diverse tree species in the region, which means a wider array of colors—yellow, bronze, orange, red and purple—for all to enjoy longer.”

According to DEEP, we can expect to have peak color starting October 5 through November 8, but some parts of the state may even see a change at an even earlier date.
