A couple of weeks ago, I told you the story about a 60-year-old Ridgefield man, Mark Dollins, who's a U.S. Masters wrestler, not be mistaken for a WWE wrestler.

Ridgefield's Mark Dollins had a dream. Despite the fact he's 60, has undergone a spinal fusion, and two complete knee replacements, Dollins was going after his third national wrestling title.

Dollins competed in the USA Wrestling's Folkstyle Championships and WON the title so let's give it up for the 'never-say-never Ridgefield resident, Mark Dollins!! I asked Mark how it felt to win another national championship, especially after returning from his injuries. Here's what he told me:

It was a great tournament and worth every bit of preparation. The guys who come to Iowa to compete are serious athletes and competitors. I consider it an honor to even be there at my age. Capturing a third national title really was a long journey.

Dollins began competing on the national level in 2006 and placed third, which was a motivator to work harder to improve and rank higher. Mission accomplished because 15 years later, Mark Dollins has won his third championship.

When I asked Mark about his goals for the future, he told me he's hoping to compete next spring in two Olympic styles, the freestyle and Greco Roman.

To illustrate how driven he is, Mark is introducing a Master's Club at GPS Wrestling in Armonk, New York, where he coaches and trains. So, from all of us here at Townsquare Media, Danbury: a massive round of applause for your Master's win!
