One thing that I have learned over the years is that just handing her a present is sometimes not the only way to go. Women seem to apprciate the creativity in the way you give the gift. A dinner is great, but she'll probably enjoy it more if you surprise her by not revealing the location until you get there. Also it's the frills that matter more then the gift itself.
