5 New Milford Dogs Looking For A Forever Home
Every Tuesday morning, we feature an adoptable Dog or Cat from the Animal Welfare Society in New Milford. Since we only do our "Pet of the Week" segment once a week, there are many dogs that haven't been able to visit us here in the studio.
Here are Five dogs that would love to find their new forever homes. They are all available now at the Animal Welfare Society on Dodd Street in New Milford.

Isabella
The Miniature Pitbull or the Pocket Pitbull is a relatively new dog breed. They are becoming very popular for families interested in owning a Pitbull without the massive muscular size.
Thanks to the folks at pocketpitbull.com, here are some facts about the Pocket Pit:
- Their coats are one of their best physical qualities. They are always shiny and smooth with a coat that is very short in length. The Pocket Pit’s coat can come in white, tan, cream, black, brown, and gray.

Abby
Labs are a great breed. They are loving, faithful, and are extremely smart, that's why when one becomes available, they don't stay at the Animal Welfare Society for long.
Abby is a senior dog, about 10 or 11 years old. She came to the animal welfare society as a stray from down south. She is a little on the heavy side, but nothing that a strict diet wouldn't fix. Now that Abby's here, she's looking for her new forever home.
If you're looking for an already trained lab who loves people, loves taking walks and is a 100% pure bred, then Abby may be the dog for you.

Elmer
Elmer has come a long way since his arrival in October 2016 - yes, sadly he has been at the shelter for awhile. During that time he has put on much needed weight, his skin condition has cleared up and he has become one handsome young man. He has proved himself to be a good boy, he's very loving towards people, but he has to be the only animal in the house. He has watched so many dogs come in and go home and it makes him sad that no one seems to want to adopt him, he is a great dog who deserves better.

Max
Max was signed over to the Animal Welfare Society when his owner could no longer keep him. Absolutely terrified at first he just wanted to hide. Now it is a completely different story, he is playful, loving and wants to be everyone's friend. Weighing in at 75lbs he is a big strong boy, he knows basic commands but needs help with leash walking.

Coco
There have been a few times during our Pet of the Week segment that Melody from the Animal Welfare Society has brought by a Pit Bull as our featured pet. Now, you say Pit Bull to someone, and they have images of these very aggressive and vicious dogs that most people fear. But with just about every Pit Bull that I have met from the Animal Welfare Society, I have met a dog that is so loving and compassionate, and a dog that gets along with everyone including other cats and dogs.
