9 Local Orchards You Do NOT Want To Visit This Fall

Does your family despise fun and entertainment? Then do them a favor and do NOT to go to Barton Orchards. With its petting zoo, corn maze, fun park and haunted house fun-haters will find that this is not their cup of cider.

Does the thought of delicious homemade hard cider make you cringe? Then you definitely want to avoid Harvest Moon Farm and Orchard. As if that weren't enough torture, they also have Fall Festivals every weekend in September and October. Every weekend! Who the heck wants to have fun on the weekend??

Hay-ride-haters will want to keep their distance from Outhouse Orchards. Oh, and if you have a distaste for homemade pumpkin cheesecake and lots and lots (and lots) of apples, pears and pumpkins for picking, this is a place to avoid.

Loathe variety? Don't go to Fishkill Farms which is home to more than a dozen different types of apples fresh for the pickin'.

If you love waiting and waiting and waiting for pumpkins to be available, then Blue Jay Orchards is not the place to go. I mean, the whole place is littered with pumpkins, like, everywhere! There are just way too many already there for you and the family to choose from.

If you're the "an Empire may as well be a MacIntosh" type, then take Beardley's Cider Mill off of your "places to visit for the most variety of apples" list. There's just way too many types here. There's just way too many types here.

I canNOT believe the absolute nerve of Salinger's Orchard. As if I really want eighteen varieties of apples, not to mention peaches, pears, nectarines, plums, cherries, raw and local honey. Who has time for all of these choices?

Not a fan of an awesome fall day spent on a beautiful hilltop surrounded by apples, pears, ice cream and other goodies? Then steer clear of Averill Farm.

Hate decorating for the Fall? Don't plan a trip to Jones Family Farms. There is just way too many varieties of pumpkins, gourds and squash in way too many shapes and sizes.
