As I'm sure you know, Connecticut has many different driving routes to enjoy the state's fall foliage. For a different perspective, the Essex Steam Train & Riverboat's 2 1/2-hour excursion or the 1-hour train journey is an ideal family day trip. Not too long ago, Mindy and I climbed aboard the Essex Steam Train, and we loved it, but you need to make a reservation, especially for the fall foliage excursion. For available dates and to purchase tickets, click this link.

Another train ride option is the Naugatuck Railroad at the Railroad Museum of New England in Thomaston, Connecticut. Unfortunately, only two excursions are available aboard the Pumpkin Patch Train, which takes off on Saturday, October 21st, and Sunday, October 22nd. Click here to purchase tickets. To find out how much fun you're going to have, check out my photo gallery!
