It's starting to get warmer which means one good thing for Connecticut - we can start utilizing our beaches.

While I wouldn't call Connecticut beaches some of the best ever, they definitely satisfy our need when it's a hot day. It's nice to have the option to go to these beaches even though I'm not a huge fan of the shells and rocks that slice my feet while I'm there.

Outside recently came up with a list of The Best East Coast Beaches and a few are only a short drive from Danbury and I'd like to say that they are well worth it. Now is the perfect time to take this into account, as summer vacation is not so far away.

The first on the list that's reasonable from Connecticut is Cape Cod National Seashore which has 40 miles of pristine beaches, freshwater ponds and high dunes. There is stuff for everyone at the Cape, and it is well worth the trip. Cape Cod is about a 3 and a half hour drive from Danbury, but take the summer traffic into consideration because it can get bad.

The article additionally named a "Bonus Beach" in Massachusetts which is Crane Beach which is a great option for escaping the crowds. Crane Beach is about a 3 hour and 15 minute drive from Danbury.

Sachuest Beach in Rhode Island also made the list. Instead of choosing Newport or Misquamicut where the crowds are very heavy, this quieter beach in Middletown, Rhode Island was chosen. The article states that it's a full service beach with concession stands, bathrooms, grills, and a rental area for surfboards and such. It is also near hiking trails. This beach is about 2 hours and 45 minutes from Danbury.

A New York beach made the list as well with Ditch Plains Park Beach. Since the beach is on Long Island, it's a bit further away but not too bad. It shows it takes about 3 hours and 20 minutes from Danbury, but if you hop on the ferry, you will definitely get there much faster. New York's bonus beach named is Napeague Beach which is also on Long Island.

The beaches mentioned are an easy trip from Danbury and can most definitely be done this summer. I can not wait until we've hit the point of nicer weather and getting some sun while listening to the waves. I plan on taking a few weekend trips this summer and these beaches will definitely be on my list.
